Quick Update One: July 2026
As a way of keeping me on track as well as giving updates as well as giving me an easy news I'll be every few months giving quick updates to things that I have kinda dropped on the floor and want to pick up. So lets go!

Lens-a-thon
Yes! There are fitness benefits to photography! I often walk around all day with 10+ kg of equipment in my backpack. (Yeah, backpack. I've tried other styles but they are too tiring too fast. Mine's a Lowepro Flipside 400 AW II, might rant more about it later.) And it sure burns off energy. But I don't do it every day. So it probably doesn't work too well...

Fitted For But Not With Mirror
So what is the deal with "Mirrorless" cameras? One of the most silly ways to describe a product; by something it hasn't got. EFI wasn't called Carb-less after all. I suppose it's the result of "DSLR"s (Digital Single Lens Reflex) being so descriptive... but... really it wasn't all about that. Sunk Time Truthality
Sometimes I spend so much time researching a product I end up buying something just to make the time spent researching not a waste of time. 'cos otherwise I'm likely to just go and do the research again and then end up with the same dilemma. That's the problem of today; it's hard to believe anything in product specs or reviews. I got behind on photos some months ago, and it really just kept getting worse. But it's done. I'm actually caught up... kinda. I suspect I'm really not as to get to this point I've been ignoring other stuff like video work. But it's a point.

Photography Subject Specialisation
A common question I get when someone sees me with a camera is "What do you take photos of".. and I generally struggle to answer. Does one need a specialisation? Do other photographers have one? Do you need to be good at it?
Some stuff I like to take photos of, such as aircraft and stars, but often the opportunity, and to a lesser extent the equipment, make it hard. I take photos of sports events, but since I'm not into most sports and I generally don't even know the rules it'd be (...)
Change is good but too much change can mess up your backup
I've got this complicated backup routine with my photos that gives me confidence that I have 2-4 copies of each photo. There's the one on the camera (at first), the primary one on the server that files are copied to but never overwritten. Then there is an auto copy to another drive of the entire folder, which does overwrite. Then there is a manual move (not a copy) to a third drive than contains a tiered copy to a block segmented folder which is then diffed with (...)
Questionable interface logic
I've been using ON1 for a few years for processing RAW files. Do I like it? Is this a review? Hmmm.... maybe I'll do this in time. I have sent EMails to them in the past, and they were ignored. For now I'll just say I use it as it's OK, I'm kinda used to it, and it allows you to buy it rather than renting. But moving on....

Build a better contact
Ahhh, contact pages. I'll have to make a giant rant about this one day, but for now a small rant will suffice. I've generally tried to have one. Direct EMails are just a spam pit, even today with better spam protection. But many contact pages/forms are not much better and often they get hacked in some way. Need a bigger day
So yeah, as expected no programming progress was made. Sux really. I did loads of software testing, and made some solid decisions on the future of SiegSpace.com, but even the news is still not fully transferred and I still haven't finished sorting though the photos I've taken. (I'm close; Intrepid Museum, and two locations around Fredericksburg. So maybe three or four batches? Although Intrepid could take a while....) But, (...)
